Tattooing Your Dog

In addition to having your dog's tags on whenever away from the home, tattooing is a great safeguard against theft or losing your dog, and better protection should your dog's collar come off. It has been reported that scientific laboratories that buy stolen dogs from thiefs will NOT accept one that is tattooed. The best time to have your dog tattooed is when they are being spayed or neutered. This spares them from having to endure anesthesia twice and you save on vet bills at the same time. The best area for a tatoo is on the inside of one of the rear legs, where the hair is scarce. Your driver's license number, social security number, telephone number or the dog's AKC registration number can be used for identification.
