I own two male dachsunds, one of which has a back injury. On the day this occured, I let them outside first thing in the morning. When I opened the door "Stretch" was lying there wimpering and tried to drag himself inside. He couldn't walk, his back legs were curled up, and he was shaking all over. I rushed him to our local vet who tried to help him and gave him cortizon shots, but by the next day he wasn't any better. The xray's showed a slipped disk with possible nerve damage. I was making arrangments to take him to U.C. Davis, when a friend mentioned a vet in Reno, Nv. that specialized in small animals and horses. Except he wasn't a conventional vet, but a holistic vet who practices accupunture and chiropratic medicine. I was willing to try anything before surgery. I contacted him and had Stretch there the next day. He did acupuncture and advised crate rest for at least a week. Within two days Stretch was walking!! I took him every week for treatments for the first month and then less often as he grew stronger and stronger. I don't understand how this works, but it does!! The vets name is Dr. David Lowell and he works in Reno, Nv. His telephone # is 1-775-853-6002. He also works from Sierra Animal Hospital and there # is 1-775-825-0913.
